# Patch Scan (On-Demand)

### Running a Patch Scan On-Demand

A patch scan can be run immediately on computers from the Windows Update Control Grid (see [Patch Scan (Using a Policy)](https://docs.faronics.com/faronicsdeploy/automated-windows-update-approval/patch-scan-heartbeat) to run automated patch scans).

1\. Navigate to the **Applications** tab in the **Control Grid** and scroll down to the **All-Windows Grid**.

2\. Selecting a computer or group of computers (the individual computer DESKTOP1 in this example) will bring up the **ACTION TOOLBAR**. 

3\. Select **PATCH SCAN** to initiate a patch scan on the computer. 

4\. Confirm the Patch Scan by clicking **OK** on the confirmation dialog.
