Firewall Settings and Insight

Faronics Insight 11 uses the WebSocket protocol on port 8888/8889/8890 to communicate between the Teacher and Student machines. All traffic is encrypted to ensure the security of the data sent between the Student and the Teacher.

When directly controlling a Student computer, a connection between the Teacher and Student is made on a randomly selected port between 10000 and 20000.

The Insight installers will create appropriate firewall rules in the Windows Defender Firewall built into Windows to allow the application to function properly. Rules may need to be configured in third-party firewalls to allow for the clients to properly report and be controlled by the Insight Teacher.
