Installing the Insight Teacher

The Insight Teacher console is the tool that provides Teachers with the ability to monitor and control activity on Student computers, as well as providing an ability to engage with Students to assist in meeting their learning objectives.
The Insight Teacher can be installed on Windows 8, 10, 11, Windows Server from version 2019 and higher, and on systems running macOS from 10.13 and above.
Installation of the Insight Teacher application requires administrative credentials on the operating system that the software is being installed on.
To begin installing, locate the InsightInstallerTeacher.exe application in the copy of Faronics Insight you were provided, or downloaded. Right click the file and select the option to Run As Administrator.
A UAC prompt may be displayed. Click Yes to begin the installation process.
When the Insight installer loads, click Next to begin the installation process.
The next screen will display the license agreement for Faronics Insight. Review the terms of the license agreement and click I accept the terms in the License Agreement to accept the license agreement and then click Next.
Next, the option to enter the default Class ID is shown. If your IT staff have provided a Class ID for you, enter this here. If you are responsible for assigning your own Class ID, please review the documentation here and select an appropriate Class ID. Click Next.
The next screen shows the option to enable the Enhanced Security mode of the Insight Teacher. If you have been provided a Security Token, please enter it here. If you are responsible for determining if this feature is to be used, please refer to the documentation here to select an appropriate Security Token. Once appropriate settings have been made, click Next.
It is recommended that the Enhanced Security mode for Insight is enabled to prevent unauthorized installations of the Teacher console from accessing Student computers.
The next screen allows for the configuration of the Admin Password and the Teacher Password to secure the configuration options of the Teacher console, and access to the console itself respectively. Once set, click Next.
The Admin Password allows access to the Administrator Settings in the Teacher console.
The next screen provides the ability to configure the Insight Connector for the Teacher console. If you have been provided with an IP Address, Hostname, or FQDN for your Insight Connector enter it here. Click Install Teacher Console.
When complete, the Teacher console will ask to reboot the machine to complete the installation process. It is recommended to allow the reboot to occur before using the Teacher console.
Once rebooted, you will be able to access the Insight console through the system tray icon after logging on to the Teacher machine.
